50th Anniversary Jazz Fest Set for April 26 through May 5, 2019

New Orleans, LA (May 10, 2018)—The 2018 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell, which concluded on Sunday, was attended by approximately 450,000 fans. One of the indelible moments from this year’s event was the appearance of Festival Founder George Wein and Producer/Director Quint Davis on the Acura Stage announcing that next year’s event, scheduled for April 26 – May 5, will be the landmark 50th anniversary Jazz Fest.

Additional highlights included: an unforgettable performance by one of America’s great bands, Aerosmith; a stirring tribute to Fats Domino featuring Bonnie Raitt, Jon Batiste, Irma Thomas, Davell Crawford, Al “lil fats” Jackson, the Fats Domino Orchestra and more; Jazz Fest debuts by David Byrne, the young phenom Khalid, Cage the Elephant and others; Lionel Richie’s parade of hits on Locals Thursday; Anita Baker’s vocal majesty on the Congo Square, in what she’s announced as her final year of touring; moving tributes by Aaron Neville and many others to Charles Neville, who passed away on the eve of Jazz Fest 2018; the Festival’s non-stop showcase of New Orleans music and culture at the Cultural Exchange Pavilion in celebration of the city’s Tricentennial; and Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue’s blazing set to close out the last day of the Festival on the Acura Stage.
