Lucas Barrios can be described as a dynamic, results-driven individual. Born and raised in La Ceiba, Honduras, he came to New Orleans as a teenager to further his education and decided to make the Big Easy his home. Throughout the years, not only has he become a professional photographer but now has a diverse background in sales/marketing, public relations, broadcasting, experience in managing regional operations and served many years as a diplomat in the United States and Mexico, facilitating international trade agreements and business.

Lucas’s Passion for Photography For a few years, Lucas Barrios was mentored by famous photographer Eric Waters, who has been very influential in the development of Lucas’s style and identity as a photographer. In 2015, Lucas’s work was amongst the official Jazz Fest permanent photography exhibit showcasing images from famous Latin musicians. He began at the early age of 12, when he used to help his next-door neighbor who happened to be a professional photographer, to develop negatives in the dark room for printing black and white photos. Barrio’s older brother, who is a renowned painter in Europe, was also very influential in his development and taste for photography.

Other accomplishments and credentials to his name include: chief photographer and sports columnist at TodoSports newspaper until August 2017; official photographer of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation; official photographer for Shell Oil at Jazz Fest for eight consecutive years; NFL photographer since 2009; accredited photographer of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival for more than 20 years; Official photographer of the Crescent City Classic and Nola Rock and Roll Marathon, member of the U.S. National Sports Writers Association and AIPS International Sports Press Association and now contributing photographer for Que Pasa newspaper and for Hispanic Flavor Productions. Official Photographer of NOLA Fashion Week. Member of Nikon Professional Photographers “NPS.”
